Welcome to STREIF Project Construction

The STREIF GmbH of today emerged from the first specialized concrete framework company, that was founded 1929 in Frankfurt/Main by Josef STREIF. In subsequent years, the company developed into one of the major construction companies in Germany. Among other applications, the wooden formwork for concrete casting was used for the construction of the Berlin Olympic Stadium, the erection of the Frankfurt Exhibition Tower, the ICC in Berlin and also for the East Terminal of the Frankfurt Airport.

A new era began with the production-start of prefabricated housing in 1964: In the eighties and nineties STREIF established itself as the market leader in the prefabricated construction of one and two-family homes as well as for twin and terraced houses. Several sister companies were created in the subsequent years.

Through this, "STREIF Industrial Facilities" gained an excellent reputation internationally. The company specialized itself in the erection of factories for prefabricated houses, interior doors and panels. Complete manufacturing plants for the production of houses and prefabricated building elements were planned, built and handed over, ready for use, to the international customers.

Projects were developed in Indonesia, China, Thailand, South Africa, Malaysia and in the Philippines. In Russia alone, Streif AG built 14 plants for the manufacturing of prefabricated building elements, including the largest prefabricated housing factory in the world, in the Siberian city of Tyumen. Up to 5000 houses per year can be manufactured there.

For comparison: The factory that was founded in 1970 in Weinheim, which is also the current headquarters, has an annual production capacity of up to 1500 houses. In addition to these two companies the STREIF-group of companies also included the "STREIF functional building construction" and the "PRÜM Türenwerk GmbH" in the mid-nineties. At the turn of the millennium, the STREIF AG was restructured by the former parent company, HOCHTIEF AG, following a redefinition of the corporate goals.

The largely middle-class oriented housing construction was outsourced, and finally sold to the partner company (GmbH), and the AG was converted into a GmbH. At the same time STREIF was completely modernized. A new housing construction program was developed: The new version program.

In terms of design and manufacturing processes it was oriented according to those that have been successful for years, for example in the automotive industry. Through this, STREIF created a range of basic building components that yielded a different housing design, depending on how they were combined during assembly. Customers were able to have their individual dream home constructed, from a selection of over 15,000 building elements - creating room for individuality, but significantly rationalizing the production process.

With this, STREIF was able to absolutely target the current market demand. In 2002 and 2003 the sales numbers increased dramatically. For its 75th year anniversary in 2004, STREIF developed further new exclusive and individual houses that are also designated for placement onto the European home market.

With the acquisition of Schwabenhaus GmbH & Co. KG in 2005, STREIF GmbH was able to integrate yet another well-known manufacturer of prefabricated houses into its group of companies.

Since 2005 the activities of the Streif GmbH are focused on internationalization. In 2007, the Streif GmbH was the first German company to implement a house-building-program in the UK with 18 housing units.

Last year STREIF celebrated its 80th birthday and thanks the more than 78,000 satisfied clients to date for their trust. A large part of the STREIF-houses built today are planned individually. But a huge number of STREIF-designs, such as the current Jubilee-House EDITION I, are also very popular.

Beyond that, in its anniversary year STREIF is also implementing a major project in the immediate vicinity of the plant in Weinheim. Close to the famous Nurburgring, STREIF is currently building 67 holiday homes at a "Formula 1 pace". The Lindner Holiday Park is not only exceptional due to the speed of its implementation. A special emphasis was also placed on the quality of the houses during the planning. In terms of thermal insulation and energy efficiency the holiday homes clearly perform better than the requirements outlined by the Energy Conservation Act (EnEV) for single-family houses in Germany.

STREIF will continue to focus on quality, experience, service and innovation in every aspect of their actions. A recipe which has maintained the company as one of the market leaders for 80 years and something that future STREIF-homeowners can look forward to.
